SEMES Co., Ltd. attaches great importance to users' personal information and strives to comply with 「Personal Information Protection Act」 and related laws and regulations. Through the Privacy Policy, SEMES informs you of the purpose and method of using the personal information provided by users and what measures are being taken to protect personal information.
0. General Rules
SEMES discloses this privacy policy on the first screen of the SEMES website (https://www.semes.com) so that users can easily view it at any time.

SEMES establishes the necessary procedures to revise the Personal Information Processing Policy in order to continuously improve the Privacy Policy. In addition, if the privacy policy is revised, a version number is assigned so that the revised information can be easily recognized.

This policy will take effect on September 20, 2024, and if it is revised, it will be notified through the website notice (or individual notice in writing, e-mail, phone, or SMS).

In accordance with Article 15.3 and Article 17.4 of the 「Personal Information Protection Act」, SEMES may additionally use and provide personal information without the user's consent, taking into consideration the following matters in accordance with Article 14.2 of the 「Personal Information Protection Act enforcement ordinance」.
SEMES may use and provide additional personal information without the consent of the user in consideration of the following matters under Article 14.2 of 「the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act」 pursuant to Articles 15.3 and 17.4 of 「the Personal Information Protection Act」.
- Whether the purpose of further use and provision of personal information is related to the purpose for which it was originally collected.
- Whether there is foreseeability for further use and provision in light of the circumstances in which personal information was collected or the processing practices
- Whether the additional use and provision of personal information unfairly infringes on the interests of users
- Whether necessary measures have been taken to ensure safety, such as pseudonymization or encryption.
2. Provision of Personal Information
In principle, SEMES provides only the minimum amount of personal information within the scope specified in the Privacy Policy, and does not process or provide it to a third party (such as others, other companies, or institutions) beyond the original scope without the user's prior consent.

3. Entrustment of Personal Information

In accordance with Article 26 of 「Personal Information Protection Act」, SEMES specifies in the contract and other documents responsibilities such as prohibition of personal information processing, technical and administrative protection measures, restriction of re-entrustment, management and supervision of the trustee, and compensation for damages, and supervises whether the trustee handles personal information safely.
4. Destruction of Personal Information
When personal information becomes unnecessary, such as the expiration of the personal information retention period or the achievement of the purpose of processing, SEMES destroys the personal information without delay.

If the personal information retention period agreed by the user has elapsed or the purpose of processing has been achieved, but the personal information must be kept in accordance with other laws and regulations, the personal information will be transferred to a separate database (DB) or stored in a different storage location.

The procedure and method of destroying personal information are as follows.
① Destruction procedure
- SEMES selects the personal information for which the reason for destruction occurred and destroys the personal information with the approval of the person in charge of personal information protection.

② Destruction method
- SEMES destroys personal information recorded and stored in the form of an electronic file so that the record cannot be reproduced, and personal information recorded and stored in paper documents is destroyed by shredding or incinerating with a shredder.
5. Destruction of personal information of unused users
SEMES destroys the information of users who have not used the service for one year. However, it may be stored and managed separately from other users' personal information until the retention period stipulated by other laws and regulations has elapsed.

SEMES notifies users of the fact that personal information will be destroyed, the expiration date, and the items of personal information to be destroyed by e-mail up to 30 days before the destruction of personal information.
If you do not wish to destroy your personal information, please login to the service before the expiration date.
6. Rights of Users & Legal Representatives and Exercising Those Rights
As a subject of personal information, user can exercise the following rights.

① Request for access to personal information: The personal information held by the Company may be requested to be viewed in accordance with Article 35 of 「Personal Information Protection Act」. However, when requesting access to personal information, it may be restricted in accordance with Article 35.4 of 「Personal Information Protection Act」.

- When there is a risk of harming the life or body of another person, or unfairly infringing on another person's property and other interests

② Request for correction and deletion of personal information: Personal information files held by the Company may be requested to be corrected and deleted in accordance with Article 37 of 「Personal Information Protection Act」. However, if the personal information is specified as the object of collection in other laws and regulations, the deletion cannot be requested.

③ Request for suspension of processing of personal information: Personal information files held by the Company may request suspension of processing in accordance with Article 37 of 「Personal Information Protection Act」. However, in the event of a request for suspension of processing of personal information, the request for suspension of processing may be rejected in accordance with Article 37.2 of 「Personal Information Protection Act」.
- When there is a special provision in the law or it is unavoidable to comply with legal obligations
- When there is a risk of harming the life or body of another person, or unfairly infringing on the property and other interests of another person
- Where it is difficult to fulfill the contract, such as failure to provide the service agreed with the user if personal information is not processed, and the user does not clearly express his/her intention to terminate the contract

If you wish to view or correct your personal information, please contact the Personal Information Protection Department in writing, by phone or e-mail, and we will take action without delay.
If a user requests correction or deletion of an error in personal information, the personal information will not be used or provided until the correction and deletion are completed.
SEMES confirms whether the person who made the request for viewing, the request for access, the request for correction or deletion, or the request for suspension of processing in accordance with the user's rights, is the person or a legitimate representative.
7. Actions Taken to Protect Personal Information
① Establishment and implementation of internal management plan
- SEMES establishes and implements an internal management plan for the safe processing of personal information.

② Restriction and Control of Access to Personal Information
- SEMES manages the granting, changing, and canceling of access to the system that processes personal information, and controls access to personal information and unauthorized access from outside.

③ Storage of access records and prevention of forgery and tampering
- SEMES keeps and manages records of access to the personal information processing system for at least one year, and uses security functions to prevent forgery, tampering, theft, or loss of access records.

④ Encryption of personal information
- SEMES encrypts, stores, and manages important personal information required by law, and encrypts personal information and authentication information by building a secure server.

⑤ Prevention of malicious programs
- SEMES installs security programs and periodically updates/checks to prevent leakage and damage of personal information caused by computer viruses.

⑥ Prevention of physical access
- SEMES operates access control for the physical storage area where personal information is stored, and stores documents and auxiliary storage media containing personal information in a safe place with a lock.

⑦ Protective measures for printing/copying
- SEMES specifies the purpose of printing personal information by printing, displaying, or filing, and minimizes the output items according to the purpose.

⑧ Restriction on Labeling of Personal Information Protection Measures
- SEMES takes measures to restrict the display of personal information, such as masking personal information, when viewing or printing personal information for the purpose of processing personal information.

⑨ Minimization and training of personal information handling staff
- SEMES designates and manages only the necessary number of employees who handle personal information, and provides training for safe management of personal information handling staff.

8. Matters concerning the installation, operation and refusal of automatic personal information collection device
① SEMES uses cookies to store information about users and find them from time to time.
- Cookies are very small text files that the server used to operate the website sends to the user's browser and are stored on the hard disk of the user's computer. Later, when a user visits the website, the website server is used to maintain the user's preferences and provide optimized services by reading the contents of the cookie stored on the user's hard disk.
